While some scientists and infectious disease experts argue face shields are enough in the community settings, others advise for wearing both the shield and a mask until more research is available. In some countries, for example in China and South Korea, preferable personal protective equipment is starting to change from face masks to face shields. The face shield covers more of the face than a facemask. Naturally making infected droplets less likely to land anywhere near someone’s mouth, nose or eyes. Its known that in the healthcare industry, eye-protection reduces the risk of infection.
