A health order that went into effect Friday night requires servers in restaurants in Long Beach as well as all of LA County to wear both cloth face coverings and face shields in order to maximize protection for both the employee and patrons.
“Generally, a person wears a mask to protect others, but these face shields are meant to protect the people wearing them,” said Kelly Colopy, director of the Long Beach health department. “Obviously, the patrons can’t wear masks because they’re eating, so these face shields offer protection for servers, hosts and anyone who comes in contact with the public.”
