Tiverton is getting closer to submitting its plans for in-school, partial in-school, and distance learning to the state Department of Education which will decide which plan they’ll follow when school opens Aug. 31. “Parents will have the option to keep their children home if they do not feel comfortable sending them to school because distance learning will always be available at all grade levels”, Superintendent Peter Sanchioni said. The new normal for in-school students this fall will include school-provided face shields for children in kindergarten to Grade 2, face masks for those in Grades 3 to 12, screening of students getting onto buses and entering buildings, and an isolation room at each school if someone shows symptoms of COVID-19.
